Copeland Basketball Expectations

Intramural basketball is a district-wide activity that all 4th and 5th graders are invited to join.  This is a team where every student gets to play and have fun. No basketball experience is required. There will be no tryouts. 

What you need to know before signing up:

• All students are expected to keep our 3 Copeland Promises both on and off the basketball court. 

  • I promise to take care of myself.

  • I promise to take care of others.

  • I promise to take care of our school community.

• Two unexcused absences will result in loss of playing time and/or termination from the team.

• If a student does not attend school on a particular day, that student will not be eligible to participate in the practice or game scheduled on that day.

• Games are played in February and March, in the form of a tournament, against the other 3 elementary schools in District 70. The game schedule will be distributed as soon as it’s ready.

Copeland Basketball Practice Details

• Players are expected to attend every practice.

• Players should wear athletic shoes and clothes. 

• A solid breakfast and plenty of water will fuel you for practice. 

• Do you have your own basketball? Bring it! Make sure your name is on it. If you don’t have your own basketball, don’t worry. We have some at Copeland too.

• Safety is always our top priority. If a basketball player is being unsafe in any way, coaches will address the behavior. If the behavior is not corrected, it may result in loss of playing time.
