** If your child will be attending Summer School, and requires medication, please make sure to bring it to the summer school nurse by the first day of summer school along with a current order.

Thank you to the Copeland Community

Thank you to every room parent, art presenter, BINGO caller, book fair organizer, etc., etc., etc.  that has spent time supporting and enhancing the educational experiences of our students.  We are so fortunate to have a great school/home partnership that appreciates parent involvement and ….  love to have FUN!  A special THANK YOU to the CFA Board, led by President Holland Burton.  These parents have spent more hours than could ever be counted planning and working all for the sake of children.

Staffing Updates

Students standing in a classroom by a teacher

With respect and gratitude, we say goodbye to three special members of our staff.  Mrs. Boyle (2nd grade teacher)  is off to retirement after 20+ years of excellent service to our community.  Mrs. Beckman (school nurse)  is off to Washington state with her family to start a new adventure.  Ms. Smith (speech language pathologist) is moving to Milwaukee to start a chapter.  These three people have inspired and positively impacted students, and we are so grateful to each of them.   We wish you all the best in all that lies ahead of you.

As of June 3, 2022

Mrs. Edelsberg will be moving from 3rd grade to 2nd grade.  She will be moving into Mrs. Boyle’s room.

Mrs. Schroetteer will be moving from 1st grade to 3rd grade.  She will be moving into Mrs. Edelsberg’s room.

Mrs. Sieks will be moving from kindergarten to 1st grade.  She will be moving into Mrs. Schroetter’s room.

Change is part of growth and growth comes from change.  All of our teachers are wonderful, and we are so excited to see what these great educators will accomplish as a result of these exciting changes.

Any further staffing updates will be communicated in August.  In mid-August, families who have completed registration (and paid fees) will be able to access Power School to learn teacher/class assignments.  Please remember that placement is made with careful consideration.  As requests for placement or changes cannot consistently be granted, please do not submit any such requests.

What’s Happening in Kindergarten

Wow! What a year it has been in Kindergarten! We are on our way to First Grade! We have so many fun things to look forward to in May! We are excited to count down the days to summer with our KINDERGARTEN countdown. Can you believe we have only a few weeks left?! We can't wait to play and practice our skills at EXPLORATION DAY and FIELD DAY! Fingers crossed for some beautiful days in the sun! We loved sharing all that we learned about weather at Open House and are excited to shift our science focus onto plants. In math, we have been working with tens and ones place values. We are also practicing solving addition and subtraction word problems and even making up our own. During our language arts lessons, we’ve been sharing our opinions and working on expanding upon our writing with more than one sentence at a time. Most importantly, we have been practicing for our end-of-the-year celebration on June 6th at 10:45 in the Copeland gym followed by a Kindergartener-only pizza lunch. Wait until you see our performance!

Many thanks to all the kindergarten parents for their wonderful support this year!

Happy (almost) Summer!
